Gourmet Ski

The Gourmet Ski is an annual fund-raising event hosted by volunteers and members of the Wells and Area Trails Society. Participants cross-country ski around the Wells meadow and the rolling hills of the Cornish Mountain trail network, whilst enjoying international cuisine served at various pit stops along the way. The event is non-competitive, and we encourage people to ski the various routes in no particular order.

In an attempt to keep the event "green" we provide wooden plates and cutlery for participants to use during the afternoon. Please bring along your own water bottle and/or insulated cup to ensure you keep hydrated.

In the evening, selections from the International Mountain Film Festival will be shown, starting at 7 pm at the Sunset Theatre, on Pooley Street in Wells.
Registration opens January 2 and it generally sells out so get your registration in early!!

Itinerary for The Wells International Gourmet Ski: 

Check-in and sign waiver

Where: The Willow River Roadhouse (beside the Bear’s Paw, Hwy 26, Wells)
When: 10 am until 12 noon
Parking: BGM (Barkerville Gold Mines) parking lot across from the Bear’s Paw; not behind the Jack o’ Clubs

Ski and eat (and laugh)

Where: Start skiing from behind the Bear’s Paw
When: Start skiing anytime between 11 am and 12 noon; food stations close at 3 pm
How: Ski the trails in any order or direction; visit the food stations in any order; visit up to four “Booty Basket” locations to see some new trail development and to get extra treats

Desserts and Finale

Where: The Jack O’ Clubs pub
When: Pub will be open for drinks starting at 3 pm; desserts will be ready to sample starting at 3 pm; prize give-away starts at around 3:30 pm; group photo in front of the Jack O’Clubs at around 4 pm

Dinner
Eat-in the Jack O’ Clubs Restaurant or in The Pooley Street Cafe at the Wells Hotel
